To dominate the constant threats of COVID-19, scientists and researchers are studying and performing clinical trials. In a recent study, it has been found that cannabis compounds have the ability to prevent the virus that causes COVID-19 from entering the human body. The researchers suggest that the non-psychoactive compound in cannabis might help prevent COVID-19.

Rigorous clinical trials and investigations:

• Based on the research, several recent laboratory studies and clinical trials have been performed. And the laboratory studies of CBD have shown positive results.
• Lab tests show that cannabigerol acid and cannabidiolic acid prevent infection of human epithelial cells by the coronavirus spike protein and prevent the entry of SARS-CoV-2 into cells.

The Findings of Mashla Rosner:

Mashla Rosner from the University of Chicago researched with his team, and in his laboratory experiments, he found the active role of CBD in curbing SARS CoV-2 in infected cells. With small doses of highly purified CBD in an oral drug, Rosner and his team show though it does not damage the coronavirus from the infected cells, it blocks the virus from making copies by affecting the inflammatory protein interferon. To prove the effectiveness of cannabinoids, they chose a group of adults with severe epilepsy and gave them the approved CBD drug, and found lower rates of COVID-19 in them.

The Findings of Van Breemen:

After several lab tests, Van Breemen and his team from Oregon State University shared that cannabinoid acids bind to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, blocking a critical step in the virus’s process of infecting people. The findings were published in the Journal of Natural Products.

Whereas there is evidence that cannabinoids play a crucial role in dealing with coronavirus,  it is not legally recommended to use cannabinoids, including CBDA and CBGA, for the treatment or prevention SARS-CoV-2 infection.
