Accessing an NHS Prescription for Medical CannabisNabilone is the drug most commonly prescribed cannabinoid medicine in the UK. However, patients are often forced to purchase it privately. This is because there is currently no legal supply of medical cannabis in the UK.

Many people turn to buying unlicensed products which may contain harmful substances. These include unregulated CBD oils, which are sold over the counter without regulation. They can be dangerous and even fatal. As such, the Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), the body responsible for regulating medicines in the UK, advises against self-medicating with CBD oil.

Doctors will now be able to prescribe medical cannabis to those patients who need it, including children. But how does this work? What do you need to know about accessing an NHS prescription for medical cannabis? And what are the legal implications?

In November 2018, UK law changed to make it lawful for doctors to prescribe cannabis-derived medicines for certain health conditions. This change came into effect. However, there are still many barriers to access for patients who want to use medical cannabis.

For example, doctors cannot prescribe medical cannabis without having received special training and being registered with the General Medical Council.

Furthermore, the NHS does not cover the cost of medical cannabis treatments. Patients are expected to pay out of pocket, meaning they often face financial hardship. Some patients even resort to buying illegal drugs online to fund their medication.

However, most of these clinics do not offer medical cannabis treatments. If you live outside of the four countries mentioned above, you may struggle to access an NHS prescription for medical marijuana. For example, you could try contacting your local GP practice or hospital.

As such, many people are turning to purchase medical marijuana from dispensaries. While this is convenient, it comes with its own set of problems.

First, you’ll need to find a dispensary near you. It’s important to note that each state has different rules regarding where you can buy medical marijuana.

You might be required to register with the government first.

You may have to prove that you have a legitimate reason for using medical cannabis.

You may have trouble finding a dispensary that sells the product you require.

And finally, you may have to pay extra fees for your treatment.
